ReHandyBot Certified for Neurocognitive Training

ReHandyBot Hand and Wrist Rehabilitation Robot

SINGAPORE – Articares today announced that ReHandyBot, its hand and wrist rehabilitation robot, has received certification from Singapore's Health Sciences Authority (HSA) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), clearing the platform for neurocognitive training.

The certification recognises ReHandyBot's approach of combining sensorimotor hand and wrist therapy with neurocognitive engagement: patients perceive, decide and act within a single gamified task, keeping motor, sensory and cognitive systems working together in every session.

With clearance now secured across both Singapore and the United States, ReHandyBot becomes available to a wider network of hospitals, rehabilitation centres and home-based care programmes looking to bring neurocognitive training to patients recovering from stroke and other upper limb conditions.

"This certification is a milestone for our mission to scale quality rehabilitation," said Asif Hussain, Ph.D, CEO of Articares. "Neurocognitive training asks the patient to actually think their way through a task, not just move through it, and now clinicians in two of our most important markets can prescribe ReHandyBot with that use squarely in mind."

ReHandyBot was developed in close partnership with the Rehabilitation Engineering Laboratory (RELab) at ETH Zurich and Clinica Hildebrand Centro di riabilitazione Brissago, Switzerland, building on more than 15 years of research into technology-based hand rehabilitation.
